Dr. Francis Rose, A Teacher Super-Hero

I saw a post on Facebook asking teachers about their heroes and it reminded me of Dr. Rose, a professor I had in college who taught a monster class, Human Anatomy & Physiology.  He made it clear to everyone that his door was always open, day or night. He was there to help, whether it related to class or problems we might be having with life.  That, to a freshman at a very large university, was comforting. His most important less lesson was a bit sneaky, and really had nothing to do with HA&P, but it worked.  It was time for finals and, as you can imagine, there was a lot of information regarding human anatomy and physiology for which we were responsible.  But not to worry... He announced we were allowed to bring in one 3x5 notecard with as much information on it as we could get- front and back!  Whew!  That was a relief! February Funnies: Scenes From a Recess Wedding

Most kids like to run around, play ball, or chat with friends at recess.  But for two of my future 6th graders, love was in the air.  This happened in the Spring of their 5th grade year.  As near as we can tell, they had a well-thought-out plan and executed perfectly.   At some point during lunch, three of them, two boys and a girl, had slipped into their respective restrooms and changed into their Sunday best.  Having changed, they met out by the baseball backstop, the farthest point away from the lunch aides who rarely ventured farther than the play area by the building.   With several witnesses, the second boy, all decked out in his Sunday finery, acted as minister for the bride and groom, reading them their vows at home plate. Having completed the ceremony in the short 20 minute recess period and still making it back to class when the bell rang, their teachers had no idea this wedding had just taken place.  No one was the wiser, th...
